Death & Dying Education Series
Since the annual congregation meeting is now scheduled, we have the dates finalized for this series. If you have already received any descriptions from Rabbi, PLEASE use those instead of mine; this event is being led by them, so their vision supersedes any details I have at this time.

Cost: none
Description: Join Rabbi Pillsbury, courtesy of TBT's Death & Dying committee, for an educational series surrounding death and dying in the Jewish world. Topics will include: Jewish practices in death & dying on June 8; preparing for death and the logistics of posthumous wishes on June 29; strategies to cope when a loved one is dying on July 20; getting support as a survivor and giving support to survivors on August 17; and small group round-table discussions on September 14. This series is free to attend.
 

Adult Education: Fall Prevention and Calcium Nutrition for Bone Health
Date: June 22, 12:30-2pm
Cost: none (I will provide donation jars during the event though)
Description: You are cordially invited to join Alessandra Bullis, Family Nurse Practitioner, on June 22 from 12:30-2pm to learn about enhancing safety later in life; topics will include fall prevention, as well as calcium nutrition for promoting bone health in the elderly and in those with high health risks. Adult Education: History of Judaism in the American South
Dates : July 6 & July 13
Cost: none
Description: Calling all history buffs! Join Tennessee-born lay leader Ben Kimbrough in a two-part education series on the history of Judaism in the American South. Learn all about: how Judaism, Indigenous practices, and Appalachian folklore intertwine; the details of crypto-Judaism and what it looks like in many spiritual practices of the South today; and how industrialization and immigration have changed the landscape of Jewish life in some of the oldest communities in the US. Part 1 will be held in the social hall on July 6 from 11am-12:30pm, and part 2 on July 13 from 11am-12:30pm. This series is free to attend.
 
 
 
Community Havdalah + High Holidays Mindfulness Yoga
Date: August 23, 6:15pm
Cost: $10 per household 
Description: Get ready for the mindful month of Elul with some gentle, disability-inclusive yoga! Led by Rebekah Farris, this class will incorporate standing and chair yoga poses with Torah themes to help get us mentally and spiritually ready for the introspective period leading up to the High Holy Days. Feel free to bring a mat, blanket, or towel to stand on, as this class will be held in the garden if the weather allows. The cost to attend is $10 per household and is being held on Saturday, August 23; we will hold community Havdalah at 6:15pm and the class will begin at 6:30.
