Our Religious School program is a truly Reform introduction to Judaic Studies, under the guidance of Rabbi Pillsbury. We offer basic Hebrew Lessons adapted to meet students where they are and guide them towards additional learning opportunities as they progress. We're a small community with a big personality!
We offer small class sizes for Judaic studies and opportunities for family based learning as well as our Sunday morning religious school. Students/Families interested in B'nai Mitzvah Studies/Preparation will work directly with Rabbi Pillsbury to define their goals and design their studies.
The theme for Chaverim this year will be Community (Kehilla)! Building community is an integral part of life, and an integral part of Judaism.
We will be focusing on the following topics:
- What does it mean to be a Jewish person?
- What does it mean to be part of a Jewish community in my temple?
- What does it mean to be part of a much larger Jewish community?
- What does it mean to be a Jewish person within other communities?
- What does it mean to be a Jewish person at this time in history?
In addition to every student receiving a robust and age-appropriate education in Hebrew and other Judaic studies, we are also hoping to bring a strong sense of community to Chaverim this year. This year, we will be planning Sundays outside of the temple to integrate us into our community, bring other Jewish members into Temple Beit Torah to share their experiences with our Chaverim students, and discover ways to translate Jewish values into all parts of our lives. Stay tuned for more of what this will entail as the school year starts up!
