IHN: Interfaith Hospitality Network
The Interfaith Hospitality Network is a national program that allows all Synagogues, Churches, and Mosques to become involved in the fight to end homelessness by providing, on a rotating basis, a “home environment” for several homeless families with children for one week. In our case, we happily share this responsibility with the congregation of Faith Presbyterian Church. The families “live” at the church from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 a.m. on designated weeks (2-3 times per year) (Sunday to Saturday) We provide dinner and company to them on the Tuesday nights. We are in need of cooks (at the Church and at home), shoppers, hosts and overnighters. Homelessness takes one’s dignity and their children are keenly aware of this. Very often they have no one to play with after school, as they won’t tell their friends of their unfortunate situation. This is a wonderful opportunity to help these children and their parents in so many ways. And it will help open your eyes and hearts as well. Our congregation responds beautifully to these needs because, as always, the TBT family rises to worthy causes and fun projects! Thank you and always remember… there, but for the grace of G-d, go I. Please contact Felicia Spirio, the TBT IHN Coordinator by email in order to help with this mitzvah!
